- Visit the Gerrit Smith Estate, National Historic Landmark
- Visitors Center -Exhibits, orientation video and the Peterboro Mercantile
- Peterboro Mercantile - a Community Heritage Shop
The shop has
publications, tee shirts, stationery, mugs, totes, jewelry, period toys, and
other articles connected to the history of Peterboro. The sales benefit the
Gerrit Smith Estate National Historic Landmark and the National Abolition Hall
of Fame and Museum.

Exhibits in the Barn and the
Land Office at the Gerrit Smith Estate National Historic Landmark will be open.
Exhibits include information on the Smith family, the use
of family wealth, the Underground Railroad, African Americans in Peterboro, and
abolitionists who came to Peterboro.

- Visit the National Abolition Hall of Fame
Located on the 2nd floor of the historic Smithfield Community Center, the site of the inaugural meeting of the New York State Antislavery
Society in 1835. A multi-media presentation on the 1835 meeting, abolition inductee banners,
and anti-slavery artworks are among the exhibits at the Hall.
- Visit the Peterboro Area Museum
Located on the east end of the village green, the museum contains artifacts and displays on the Smith family and other famous citizens of Peterboro.
Additional weekend activities:
- Saturday 12:00 noon - Chicken Bar-B-Q at the Firehouse.
Proceeds benefit the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department.
- Saturday Evening Concert - 77th NY Regimental Balladeers

- Sunday 7:00-10:00 am - Pancake Breakfast, at the Community Center. Proceeds benefit the Peterboro Methodist Church.
The Civil War Weekend is organized and operated completely by volunteers. All profits from the weekend are used to continue the work of preserving and restoring the historic sites in Peterboro. Thank You.
